All this time, when customers use SS304 hinge, they will have a question that Why SS304 hinge can be absorbed by magnet.

Large scale hinge factories will choose SS304 or SS201 as raw material to produce stainless steel hinge. However, some hinge factories will use inferior material instead of SS304 material to cheat customers. When choosing stainless steel hinge, customers can’t distinguish it by eyes, so they usually use a magnet to absorb the stainless steel hinge to judge whether it is made of stainless steel material or not.

As a matter of fact, it’s not correct to test whether stainless steel hinge is made of stainless steel material or not.

A hinge consists of many accessories, which are stamping by molds. Raw material is SS304, but stamping molds are iron, so iron will be left during productive process. Moreover, because accessories of hinge are made of anti-rust iron (Notice: the hinge body is made of pure SS304, but other accessories are made of anti-rust iron, because SS304 has strong hardness and is brittle, if used to produce accessories, they will be easy to crack during productive process and in using.), which also can be absorbed by magnet through stainless steel material, so if using a magnet to absorb a stainless steel hinge, it is normal that it can be absorbed by magnet. If the hinge is demagnetized, it can’t be absorbed by magnet, but many factories will don’t demagnetize their stainless steel hinge.

Only SS304 exclusive medicine can judge whether stainless steel hinge is made of SS304 material or not.

Actually, customers can choose material of hinge according to their requirement, for example, SS304 hinge has strong rustproof capacity and normally used under moist condition, such as bathroom cabinet and kitchen cabinet, while anti-rust capacity of SS201 hinge is a little weaker, so SS304 hinge is a little expensive than SS201 hinge.
